    Duties Description

    Under the supervision of a Maintenance Supervisor 3, SG-19 or designee, the candidate will work within the regional plumbing, water, and wastewater department. The role involves performing semi-skilled tasks, assisting with water and wastewater operations, and other duties as required including but are not limited to:

    • Perform monitoring and testing procedures on potable water and wastewater systems.
    • Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing fixtures and appliances, such as sinks, showers, toilets, urinals, drinking fountains, hot water appliances, etc.
    • Assist with the replacement, maintenance, and repair of water distribution lines, sewer infrastructure components, and natural gas or propane supply lines.
    • Assist with chlorination and sanitation activities.
    • Perform routine preventative maintenance on all assigned hand and power tools to ensure they are in good working order and comply with applicable codes.
    • Maintain daily activity reports and ensure all required records are properly kept.
    • Obtain necessary certifications required to execute assigned duties.
    • Adhere to the agency’s Code of Conduct Policy and ensure compliance with all guidelines, policies, and procedures in the performance of daily tasks.

    OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
    • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
    • Must have ability to read and understand instructions, including written material.
    • Must have the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including additional, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
    • Must possess or obtain a valid Grade C and D Community Water Systems Operator certification issued by the NYS Department of Health as a term and condition of employment.
    • Must be available to work a variable schedule that includes weekends, holidays and/or evening shifts.
    • Must be physically able to perform medium to heavy physical labor.

    This position has the option to join the NYS Employee’s Retirement System and may be eligible for health insurance, dental and vision coverage as well as the opportunity for paid time off in the form of vacation, sick, personal and holiday leave after time and service requirements has been met.
