- Code Inspector II $23.88 - $30.45
- Code Inspector III $25.21 - $32.15
Job Description: Under close supervision, performs routine field inspection duties in assigned functional areas, such as stormwater or solid waste disposal, in order to determine compliance with City of Orlando code, ordinances, and other requirements. Issues violation notices. Advises owners and others on codes, regulations, and standards. Makes recommendations for gaining compliance. Performs other related work as assigned. Expected to work under general supervision upon gaining sufficient knowledge and experience
Minimum Qualifications: Code Inspector I: Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Business, or related field
and two (2) years general experience in a related area such as construction, maintenance, inspection; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Must pass background check which includes polygraph. Knowledge or experience in the designated functional area desired.
STORMWATER:
Must obtain Erosion and Sedimentation Control Inspector Certificate within the first year of employment. Code Inspector II: Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Business, or related field
and two (2) years specialized experience performing stormwater compliance inspection, water management inspection, or solid waste inspection; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required
. Must pass background check which includes polygraph. STORMWATER:
Must possess Erosion and Sedimentation Control Inspector Training Certificate or other comparable certification. Florida Stormwater Association or Florida Water Pollution Control Operators Association Certificate (or other comparable certificate) desired or must be obtained within one (1) year of employment. Code Inspector III : Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Business, or related field
and four (4) years specialized experience performing a full range of stormwater compliance inspection, water management inspection, and solid waste inspection; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Valid Florida Driver's License required. Must pass background check which includes polygraph. STORMWATER:
Must possess Erosion and Sedimentation Control Inspector Training Certificate and Florida Stormwater Association or Florida Water Pollution Control Operators Association Certificate; or other comparable certifications or courses. Additional Qualifications for Promotion to Code Inspector II:
Must meet the minimum requirements for the II level and last performance evaluation must have resulted in an overall "Meets Standards" rating or better with no factor rating of less than "Meets Standards." An employee is expected to be promoted to Code Inspector II upon meeting the minimum requirements and supervisory approval.
Additional Qualifications for Promotion to Code Inspector III:
Last performance evaluation must have resulted in an overall "Meets Standards" rating or better with no factor rating of less than "Meets Standards." An employee may be promoted to Code Inspector III upon meeting minimum requirements, demonstrating sufficient knowledge and ability, and receiving supervisory approval.

- Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
