Two full-time positions available with the City Planning & Development Department, Project Administration Division, located at 414 E 12th St.
Salary Range: $5,794-$8,833/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00a.m.-5:00p.m.

Responsibilities
• Develop project proposals and project execution plans, including determining objectives, establishing work plans and determining time frames, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements and allotment to more complex phases of project management.
• Directs and coordinates professional, technical, and clerical personnel engaged in assessing the economic and/or social implications of development proposals, associated applications for infrastructure and building plans, land-use plans, zoning issues, socio-economic programs and urban public policy matters having development implications.
• Assemble, manage time commitments, and direct activities of project delivery teams including members from multiple department divisions.
• Supervises staff involvement with departments, residents, contractors and other constituents which have a major interest in planning and development decisions.
• Supervises staff or serves on multi-discipline teams assigned specific planning or development tasks; supervises analysis and recommendations relative to current development matters
• Maintain external citizen and interdepartmental relationships to ensure collaborative project delivery and stakeholder satisfaction.
• Provide periodic updates regarding status of projects to senior management, project stakeholders, and appointed/elected officials.
• Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress reports, or cost tracking reports.
• Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and resolve matters with stakeholders for all levels and phases of projects. Escalates issues when necessary.
• Engage operations, subject matter experts and licensed professionals as appropriate to ensure projects meet professional standards, budgetary and regulatory requirements.
• Work with contract administrators and other internal staff in the solicitation, evaluation, award and administration of contracts of various types.
• Contracts with and coordinates project activities of external consultants and interdepartmental work teams for other more complex projects.
• Manage project resources appropriately for more complex, large scale projects and demonstrate the ability to account for resources allocated to assigned projects.
• Plans and supervises training programs for less experienced staff in project management systems and procedures.
• Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree and 4 years professional experience in economic or community development work, planning, building codes administration, engineering, architecture, or neighborhood development programs; or Master's degree in economics, sociology, multi-disciplinary social science or urban affairs, urban planning, public or business administration, engineering, architecture and 2 years professional experience in economic or community development work, planning, building codes administration, engineering, architecture, or neighborhood development programs; OR high school graduation and 8 years of professional experience in economic or community development work, planning, building codes administration, engineering, architecture, or neighborhood development programs.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
