Full-time position available with the Neighborhood Services Department, Animal Services Division, located at 7077 Elmwood Ave.
Salary Range: $5,173-$7,759/monthly
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
- Performing maintenance and training on the database containing issued pet licenses, animal inventory, care and disposition.]
- Handle more difficult cases of apprehended animals and responds to inquiries from officials and assist with media in the absence of the Animal Services Division Manager.
- Supervises staff of field officers; trains staff in the enforcement of applicable animal control and pet licensing; assigns and evaluates the work of those supervised.
- Maintains database of complaint calls and dispatching, apprehension and disposition of housed animals in partnership with KCPP and stores inventories; as system administrator, trains employees on use of database system.
- Resolves sensitive complaint cases; serves citations, interviews complainants and animal owners; refers serious case files to city prosecutor and gives testimony in cases going to trial; reviews procedures followed by field officers against existing protocols to judge effectiveness and appropriateness of service delivery.
- Assists the division manager in scheduling employees, purchasing and inventory control activities, and budget preparation.
- Responds to inquiries from media and community officials in the absence of the Animal Services Division Manager.
- Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree and 4 years applicable experience in planning/zoning; nuisance housing; building construction or inspection; health, safety, codes and ordinances inspection or investigations; neighborhood/community assistance, code enforcement, social services, background investigations or criminal justice. OR An equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies. Must possess or be eligible to obtain required police commission from the KCMO Police Department. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.
Preference for Animal Control Experience.

Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
