The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill two (2) vacancies for the classification of Central Control Room Operator in the Corrections Division of the Police Department. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year.
Under general supervision, performs work of routine difficulty in operating the control room in the City Detention Facility; and performs related work as required.
- Ideal candidates for this position will have technical skills in utilizing computers within multiple daily deadlines and will be able to effectively prioritize multiple competing tasks including remaining calm and professional during urgent and emergency protocols.
- Ideal candidates will possess effective teamwork and communication skills, and will display flexibility daily in switching tasks based on constant changing priorities.

IMPORTANT POSITION INFORMATION:
This position is
required to:
* Work any shift - Including day and/or graveyard shifts, an alternative or flexible work schedule outside normal business hours, which will include evenings, weekends, holidays, extended hours, overtime, and mandated overtime as necessary. Candidates may also be required to work overtime with little to no advanced notice. (The base work schedule is 3/12's.)
* Work in the jail environment - Including working with professional staff, officers from multiple jurisdictions, inmates who may be belligerent, mentally ill, intoxicated, around noise, dust, body wastes and fluids, odors, and typical hygiene issues from inmates common to a jail facility. The physical workspace is a dark environment with bright lighting from the various overhead and desktop monitors in the room. There is also alarm noise, radio traffic noise, and potential to be stationary for extended periods of time.
* Successfully complete a structured training program that is a minimum of 13 weeks long, but may be extended based on the candidates progression during their training. Throughout the program, strong individual initiative must be demonstrated in order to study, learn, and apply the concepts, policies, and procedures that incumbents will be rated and evaluated on during the program, and during the probationary/qualifying period.
NOTE: Requests for sit-along(s) or private tours with the City of Henderson Corrections Division are not available during the duration of this recruitment. An optional facility tour will be available to candidates that complete and pass the Written Examination portion of the assessment process.

Minimum Qualifications- Graduation from high school, or equivalent
- One (1) year of experience in law enforcement, corrections, emergency dispatching or security
- Note: An equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered
- Must pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check, and a wants/warrants check.
- Must complete Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification within six months of hire/transfer and be recertified every two years. Must maintain certifications in NCIC/NCJIS as a condition of continued employment.
