    The Position

    Professional Engineer Administrators are responsible for management of an assigned district, function or division in the Department of Transportation.

    Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.

    This position is located within the Roadway Design Section of the Design Division, Carson City. The incumbent will administer the planning, assigning, and supervision of the Roadway Design Section; Oversees the production of roadway contract plans; defines policies, guidelines, and procedures for the Roadway Design Section; establishes the annual budget for the Roadway Design Section; coordinates activities with other divisions to ensure projects are on schedule and budget; and supports the Chief Design Engineer with other duties, special projects, and implementation of new or revised requirements. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Current licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) and four years of progressively responsible professional engineering experience in a supervisory or responsible project charge capacity; OR one year of experience as a Manager II, P.E. in Nevada State service; OR two years experience as a Manager I, P.E. or Supervisor IV, P.E. in Nevada State service; OR licensure and an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Notes Any person registered as a Professional Engineer in another state must become registered as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months following the date of appointment and as a continuing condition of employment. Special Requirements Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.     Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
