Position Overview: CVWD is seeking a motivated and community-oriented intern, familiar with regional needs and Tribal community priorities, to assist in community outreach efforts and support the Environmental Services Department. This position will support the development of the Coachella Valley Regional Water Resilience Plan, which will assess climate vulnerabilities to water systems in the region. This position offers the opportunity to gain knowledge and hands-on experience in community outreach, climate change adaptation, and groundwater management. This is a part-time, non-benefited position of limited duration.
Essential Functions Essential Tasks: - Engage with well owners and community members to collect data on domestic and small water systems.
- Provide outreach to raise awareness about climate change impacts on groundwater and domestic wells.
- Support workshops, meetings, and events to share findings and gather feedback from the community.
- Ensure confidentiality of sensitive information while collecting and managing data.
- Support data management tasks, including using tools such as Microsoft Excel, Access, and ArcGIS to compile and analyze data.
- Collaborate with staff to document findings in reports and presentations.
Minimum Qualifications Qualifications: - Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Willingness to travel locally for outreach and field investigations.
- Skills in GIS preferred, but not required.
- Must have CA Driver’s License.
- Working towards a college degree (full-time or part-time), OR has recently (12 months or less) graduated college with an Associates or higher degree.
