  • Job Description

    Full-time position available with the General Services Department, Information Technology Division located at 1111 Locust Street
    Salary Range: $5,794-$8,833/month
    Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. *Telework schedule available after 6-month probationary period completed.

    Responsibilities

    • Provides support for all aspects of the central IT division (ITD) customer service delivery process at the enterprise and departmental level for the city.
    • Handles being both a departmental customer advocate and enterprise IT representative for planning, designing, prioritizing, procurement, implementation, and lifecycle management of the Information Technology Divisions services for departmental clients.
    • Participates and when necessary, leads customer and enterprise technology approval processes for the acquisition and utilization of all IT related equipment/services, applications, networking, telecommunications, and systems
    • Prioritizes requests for service enhancements and new technology implementations to ensure the most cost-effective business alignment of IT services for the city.
    • Acts as the technology lead for ITD and departments when engaging in departmental or city leadership meetings and technology presentations.
    • Develops business cases and overall project strategies including project planning, scope development, requirements gathering, contracting, writing RFP's and implementation for major efforts that satisfy the IT business needs of the assigned department(s).
    • Provides coordination for and manages the formal IT governance process established by policy or internal process requirements to ensure all technology efforts meet city and client requirements.
    • Understands the IT division and possess the skills to effectively communicate with multiple departments within the City to understand their technological needs.
    • Acts as the main point of contact between IT and the departments.
    • Works at a high level, to oversee the relationship between IT and City departments they support.
    • Develops detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
    • Coordinates cross-functional teams to ensure project tasks are completed on schedule.
    • Addresses challenges and resolve issues to keep projects on track.
    • Tracks progress using Asana project management tools and performance metrics.
    • Conducts regular status meetings and provide progress updates to stakeholders.
    • Collaborates with stakeholders to identify and implement technology solutions.
    • Prepares reports, presentations, and documentation on project status and outcomes.
    • Facilitates decision-making by providing data-driven insights.
    • Conducts post-project reviews to assess successes, challenges, and lessons learned.
    • Supports process improvements, system integrations, and workflow automation.
    • Recommends process improvements for future projects
    • Tracks project milestones, manage documentation, and coordinate team efforts.
    • Ensures IT solutions enhance business operations, reporting, and decision-making.



    Qualifications

    REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree and 4 years of technology experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and technology experience. Preference given to those with one of the following: proficiency in Asana or similar project management software, including task management, workflow automation, dashboard creation and team collaboration to drive project execution and efficiency, possesses a bachelor's degree in information technology, business administration, or a related field, knowledge of IT systems, software implementation, and data-driven decision-making, or a PMP certified.

    Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

    The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
    For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
    Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

    If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
