Position DutiesThe Department of Transportation is currently seeking to fill 1 vacancy for the Sr. Parking & Traffic Control Officer position. This recruitment may be used to fill multiple positions in the future. If you are interested in employment in this classification, you should apply to ensure you are considered for additional opportunities that may utilize the applicants from this recruitment.The Parking Compliance Unit is a customer service focused group comprised of 53 Parking and Traffic Control Officers, 6 Senior Parking and Traffic Control Officers, 2 Parking Supervisors, and an administrative staff. The Senior Parking and Traffic Control Officer position leads a 24x7 operation delivering parking services City-wide. The position focuses on providing oversight of Parking Officer activity. This position is required to work weekends and holidays. Key duties include but are not limited to:
- Encouraging parking turnover
- Improving vehicular, bicycle, and pedestrian safety
- Vehicle abatement
- Providing traffic control oversight during special events.
- Overseeing staff performance, including development opportunities, training, and goal setting.
- Scheduling and the deployment of staff to ensure that service delivery needs are met.
- Reviewing and analyzing service deliveries and staff productivity.
- Coordinating ride-alongs with PTCOs to evaluate performance.
- Assisting in the planning of team building activities and meetings.

Minimum QualificationsEducation: Completion of high school, or General Education Development (GED) Certificate, or California Proficiency Certificate.
Experience: Two (2) years of experience requiring independent decision-making and considerable contact with the general public in parking control enforcement or a similar regulatory function.
Acceptable Substitutions: An additional year of education may be substituted for a maximum of one (1) year of work experience.
Licenses/Certificates: Valid State of California driver’s license.
