The Missouri State Fair is looking for a candidate to fill a full time Division Secretary (Administrative Support Professional) position to work as the assistant to the Missouri State Fair Director. If you have administrative support experience in a professional office and are interested in a position of responsibility supporting the mission of the Missouri State Fair and the Department of Agriculture, this may be the job for you!
- Serve as secretary to the Missouri State Fair Director and Missouri State Fair Commission providing administrative support, organizing meetings and travel and function as custodian of records.
- Manage the office of the Missouri State Fair Director, including accountability for distribution of credentials, training and supervision of seasonal switchboard and information team, coordinating requests from dignitaries and other guests.
- Effectively receive, negotiate, and resolve customer concerns.
- Act as liaison to offices of elected officials and other state departments and their staff.
- Maintain good working relationships with other divisions of Missouri Department of Agriculture.
- Assume leadership role in planning and implementing certain special events and aspects of the annual fair which may include Family Fun Center, Military Appreciation Day, Social Events, and other activities.
- Manage the overhaul and ongoing maintenance of Missouri State Fair Policies and Procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: - High School Diploma or GED Equivalent AND
- Four (4) or more years of experience in clerical, administrative, or general office support work
- Must possess a valid Missouri Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, the general public and other professionals. Ability to be proactive, efficient, and willing to multi-task while completing tasks in a timely manner. Be detail oriented. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to handle customer interactions and professional correspondence. Leadership experience in a professional office or other relevant administrative role. Working knowledge of office equipment such as fax machine, copy machine, etc. and proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs. Ability to coordinate the daily operations of the director’s office.
