    ABOUT THE POSITION

    The Clark County Parks and Recreation department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the position of Production Specialist. As a member of the Parks and Recreation Special Events team, you will plan and coordinate large scale special events at the Desert Breeze Event Center and other venues and park facilities, including concerts, festivals and community events. Included in the responsibilities; stage management, sound technician, vendor coordination, permit review and logistics management. Ideal candidates will be responsible in managing purchase orders, equipment ordering, inventory, scheduling, training, budgeting, and oversight of staff. As experience is gained, assignments are more independent and performed under more general supervision.

    This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Education and Experience: Equivalent to an Associate's Degree with course work in theater production, communication, or a field related to the work AND three (3) years of full-time professional theatrical or stage production with experience performing technical function in the operation of electronic equipment and stage production equipment.

    Working Conditions: Work on productions outside of normal working hours (evenings, weekends, holidays). Work environment includes outdoor events that could involve inclement weather (heat, dust, windy conditions, rain, etc.).

    Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver's License at time of appointment.

    Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

    Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

    Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.

    Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

    • Performs technical functions in the operation of electronic equipment such as audio, video, lighting, rigging and stage production equipment.
    • Develops and implements theatrical equipment use and maintenance guidelines.
    • Performs maintenance tasks on theatrical/production equipment.
    • Arranges for equipment transport and sets up theatrical/production equipment.
    • Performs routine maintenance checks and alerts supervisor of equipment malfunctions and repair needs.
    • Assesses the need for new equipment and makes recommendations for purchases as needed.
    • Interviews, recruits, trains, schedules and supervises production technicians.
    • Conducts routine inspections of Clark County Parks and Recreation performing arts venues.
    • Develops and modifies production scheduling.
    • Interacts extensively in person and by telephone with patrons, user groups, performing artists, outside agencies, vendors and County staff.
    • Stays abreast of new trends, innovations and safety issues in the field of production and performance services.
    • Ensures that all work assignments are carried out following standard safety practices and that a safe environment is maintained for patrons, user groups and staff.
    • Maintains accurate inventory records and time sheets.
    • Prepares reports and repair requests.
    • Contributes to the effectiveness of the department's service to customers by offering suggestions and participating as an active member of a work team.
    • Uses standard office equipment, such as a computer, associated software, copy machines, telephone and fax machines in the course of the work.
    • Drives a personal or County motor vehicle to attend meetings and transport equipment to production venues.
    • Participates in contract rider negotiation on technical equipment and ensures that professional touring company requirements are satisfied.
    • May act as a liaison for Department or County-wide special events.


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment. Drive a motor vehicle to reach off site production locations. Safely lift and carry up to 100 pounds (with assistance as needed) to transport production or stage equipment. Mobility to climb to ascend and descend ladders and stairs, balance on narrow surfaces, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods with stamina to maintain concentration for an extended period of time. Ability to read printed materials under low light conditions and a computer screen. Ability to hear and speak to communicate in person or over telephone or radio.
