The City of Olathe is looking for a Stagecoach Operations and Agriculture Supervisor. The qualified candidate will be responsible for the oversight, implementation and general care of the livestock and related programming at Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm. This includes providing safe operation of stagecoaches, training and certifying staff in safe driving practices and demonstrating 19th century agricultural practices to the public.
Pay Range: $28.00 to $39.06 hourly, depending on qualifications and experience.For more details, review the full job details and requirements below.The Stagecoach Operations and Agriculture Supervisor is responsible for overseein g and implementing the care of liv e stock and related programming at the Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm Historic Site . This position includes ensuring the safe operation of stagecoaches , training and certifying staff in safe driving practices . They are also responsible for d emonstrating ninet eenth - century agricultural practices to the public.
Key Responsibilities - Recruits, hires, supervises, trains, and evaluatesstaff and volunteers; manages and assists in budget development for the assigned area of focus.
- Ensures the completion of routine care and daily feeding of animals; manages veterinarian and farrier care; maintains accurate reports on the purchase, heal th, training, and disposition of animals.
- Develops safety protocols and oversees the safe operations of stagecoaches, wedding carriage s , and other animal-drawn conveyances; trains and certifies staff in safe handling and driving practices ; serves as the primary driver for coach and carriage operations ; manages safety logs and maintenance for rolling stock, including coaches, carriages, wagons, implements, and harnesses.
- Innovates and implements 19 th - century agricultural demonstrations ; trains and supervi ses staff and volunteers to provide safe and engaging visitor interactions with animals; demonstrates effective public relations skills for audiences of all ages.
Qualifications Experience: Three years of progressively responsible experience in the care and management of livestock in a commercial, historic site, or similar environment is require d , including at least one year of supervisory experience . P revious experience in a museum or historic site with one year or more experience as a supervisor is preferred.
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in animal husbandry, zoology, agriculture, or a related field is preferred .
Licenses & Certifications: A valid driver’s license and a favorable driving record are required .
