Position Overview:The Wireless Communication Services Division, part of the Communications and Technology Management Department, is seeking an IT Solutions Architect to join the core team for the Greater Austin Travis County Regional Radio System ( GATRRS ). The ideal candidate has a passion for solution design based on ITIL standards and an in-depth understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud computing, telecommunications (including RF systems), and enterprise-level systems.
The IT Solutions Architect will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable, reliable, and secure IT solutions that meet the business requirements of the GATRRS environment. This role requires a strategic thinker with hands-on technical expertise who can translate business needs into technological solutions while overseeing the technical aspects of projects from inception to completion. Note that this position supports 24-hour radio network operations, requires on-site work, and may allow for remote work based on business needs. A criminal background investigation is also required for this role.
Primary Duties:- Ensure compliance with security policies and procedures, adhering to local, ITIL , and NIST security standards.
- Administer and architect end-to-end solutions, including networks, broadband, security systems, virtualization platforms, Astro P25 RF system, radio programming applications, and SQL database optimization.
- Ensure solutions are compliant with Federal, State, and local radio communications interoperability coordination.
- Troubleshoot advanced systems, topologies, and storage while supporting critical customers in a utility environment.
- Provide project oversight and risk management to identify potential risks and vulnerabilities, offering infrastructure planning and design input.
- Offer leadership and guidance to junior team members through motivational and collaborative skills.
