    The Position

    Activities Therapy Technicians are assigned support functions in the evaluation, therapeutic programming, clinical treatment, and assessment of patients receiving the services of a therapist, including assisting in the implementation of the treatment plan according to the therapist's specifications; instructing patients in the proper use of tools and equipment; providing for the procurement and maintenance of supplies and equipment; and providing direction and encouragement to patients in a mental health, intellectual disabilities, rehabilitation and restoration, or related health care setting.

    The Division of Public and Behavioral Health Lake's Crossing Center is recruiting for a full time Activities Therapy Technician 2 position located in Sparks. Lake's Crossing Center is a maximum-security forensic facility/Psychiatric Hospital for Mentally Disordered Offenders. The mission of the agency is to provide forensic mental health services to mentally disordered offenders referred by the court system for evaluation of their competency. The position will help clients use recreational activities to enhance health, independence, and well-being, in accordance to capabilities, needs and interests. Duties include scheduling and conducting group activities, assisting in the implementation of activity therapy, maintaining documentation and records of clients' attendance and participation, reporting and documenting incidents and accidents to established procedures and performing other duties as assigned.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or the equivalent and three years of experience working with individuals with physical, mental and/or cognitive disabilities in either a therapeutic or educational setting, one year of which included providing full-time technical support to physical, occupational, industrial, and/or exercise/fitness therapists involving therapeutic exercise and activities; OR forty-eight (48) semester credits from an accredited college or university in health science, physical education or recreation, nursing, or a related health or social science field, and one year of experience providing full-time technical support to physical, occupational, industrial, and/or exercise/fitness therapists involving therapeutic exercise and activities; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Notes A Bachelor's degree in health science, physical education or recreation, or related health or social science field may be substituted for the education and experience requirement. Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in addition to their normal work schedules. This position requires the incumbent to work weekends and holidays. Special Requirements A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. CPR certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. First aid certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.
