OverviewThe District Attorney’s Office has an opening for a Diversion Specialist!
This position will handle both Juvenile and Adult Diversion cases. It is an exciting time to be in diversion as we increase our capacity and work with community partners to diversify opportunities for those in the criminal justice system to take responsibility for their actions while working on personal growth and repairing harm to the community. We are looking for individuals who want to work with defendants to better themselves, prevent future unlawful behavior, and help make our community whole.
The typical work hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. After a probationary period, telecommuting for 1-2 days a week may be available.

- Handling diversion cases involving criminal offenders (youth or adult), assessing their needs for services through the DA's Office.
- Creating and overseeing personalized plans for offenders, ensuring compliance and progress.
- Communicating with prosecuting attorneys and victim advocates to ensure adherence to the Victims' Rights Amendment.
- Developing and implementing programs for low-risk offenders to aid in rehabilitation.
- Serving as a liaison between the District Attorney’s Office and community partners such as schools, law enforcement, and non-profits.
- Assisting with case assessments for Specialty Courts, as needed.

- Understanding of the criminal justice system and the role of diversion and problem-solving courts.
- Ability to synthesize information and develop appropriate diversion plans that ensure accountability and reduce harm.
- Knowledge of current behavioral health counseling concepts and techniques.
- Comfort with interviewing youth, families, and adults in the criminal justice system, including asking sensitive questions.
- Experience and enthusiasm for collaborating with community stakeholders.
- Sensitivity to low-income individuals, behavioral health issues, and non-English speakers.

- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or related field required.
- Two (2) years' experience in the fields of social work, criminal justice, counseling, or similar related field required.
- Possession of a valid driver's license by date of hire required.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred.
