About the Opportunity THE IDEAL CANDIDATE The department is seeking a team oriented professional with strong communication and technical skills to apply for the position of Staff Services Technician. Strong attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines and excellent critical thinking skills are imperative for this position. The Staff Services Technician reports directly to the Department Head.
ABOUT THE POSITION Under general supervision, the Marketing and Outreach Coordinator will be responsible to serve as the Department's liaison for all marketing and communication related activities and projects. Marketing responsibilities include developing and implementing marketing strategies to promote services to customers, stakeholders, and potential funders, managing all promotional materials, signage and branding requirements and oversight, and preparing marketing reports. The incumbent is expected to work independently and with others, exercise sound judgment, and exhibit initiative and good decision-making ability. This position is required to work evenings and weekends on occasion for adoption and outreach events.
Part-time extra-help is a provisional classification where permanent status may not be obtained. This position is subject to overtime, standby, shift, and callback assignments and will perform related duties as assigned. This position is non-benefited except for participation in a 401a program with Nationwide. Incumbents may also be subject to overtime, standby, callback, weekend, holiday and shift assignments as identified in their MOU (Memorandum of Understanding).

Typical Tasks - Develop outreach, marketing campaigns, and promotion plans for department services and program;
- Post, update, manage, monitor, and maintain content on the organization’s Web site and social media platforms creating engaging and meaningful content;
- Monitor and manage brand image and reputation;
- Write media communications to promote programs and services;
- Establish or maintain cooperative relationships with representatives of the community;
- Confer with department leadership to identify trends or key group interests;
- Prepare or edit organizational publications, such as annual reports for internal or external audiences;
- Develop plans or materials to communicate organizational activities that are beneficial to the department programs and customers;
- Confer with partners, vendors, or support personnel to produce or coordinate production of advertisements or promotions;
- Lead and assist staff and volunteers on being prepared to do outside presentations;
- Prepare or deliver presentations to further outreach objectives;
- Coordinate the purchase of advertising space or time as required to promote outreach;
- Prepare data and research reports;
- Analyze industry and customer trends;
- Conduct surveys in organizations;
- Gather organizational performance information;
- Discuss business strategies, practices,or policies with department leadership;
- Develop business or market strategies;
- Outreach Materials, Letters and Memos;
- Coordinate Adoption and Promotion Events;

- Conduct animal adoption interviews with potential adopters; and
- Operate small trucks and stock trailers used in transporting animals, equipment and supplies.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education/Experience) SKILLS/ABILITIES - Supervise staff conducting technical assistance;

- Lift, bend, stoop and reach overhead; and
- Push, pull, squat, twist and turn.
KNOWLEDGE - Modern office practices/record-keeping;
- Statistical record keeping and reporting concepts, methods and techniques;
- Data processing relating to budget control or payroll;
- Principles and techniques of employee supervision; and
- Spelling, grammar, and elements of proper writing procedures.

PATTEN II - Two years performing highly complex clerical duties with lead-worker, programmatically or accounting responsibilities.
