Full-time position available with the Parks & Recreation Department, Planning & Engineering Division located at 4600 E. 63rd Street
Salary Range: $8,650-$13,620/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
- Manages the Planning and Engineering Division of the Parks and Recreation Department.
- Serves as department coordinate for PIAC, attending PIAC meetings and monitoring PIAC projects.
- Directs the development and implementation of Parks Department's goals, objectives, policies, and priorities.
- Acts as project manager on complex construction projects, including engineering design administration, construction contracting and daily construction oversight.
- Performs presentations to the public and city leadership as required.
- Develops and maintains standard construction specifications for the Parks and Recreation Department.
- Monitors and evaluates service and staffing levels to ensure efficiencies and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures
- Oversees permit review and permit inspection.
- Oversees construction inspection and material testing for all Parks construction projects.
- Manages the department's GO Bond planning and implementation.
- Assigns projects and responsibility
- Responds to and resolves difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints.
- Meets with neighborhood and other community groups.
- Monitors and evaluates service and staffing levels to ensure efficiencies and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures.
Qualifications
REQUIRES an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or landscape architecture. 15 years of progressively responsible experience in municipal engineering or planning, including 10 years as a Registered Engineer or Registered Landscape Architect with at least 5 of those years' experience directing a major division of municipal engineering or planning works. Within 6 months of hire date, must be registered as a Professional Engineer or Professional Landscape Architect with Missouri Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, Professional Land Surveyors, and Professional Landscape Architects.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
