The Kansas City District is currently seeking a Design-Build Deputy Project Director for the development and administration of the Route 291 River Bridge project. The project is the reconstruction of the Route 291 River Bridge over the Missouri River, with a construction budget of $100 million.
The Deputy Project Director will work on the procurement and administration of the design and construction contract. Design-Build is a partnership with the industry to deliver the project goals by managing and allocating risks appropriately. Other duties to expect are helping to develop the MoDOT Team, supervising preparation of project documentation; provide technical expertise and design input; and resolving project issues as they arise. The Deputy Project Director will support the Project Director with the responsibility for the overall success of the project and supervises staff assigned to the MoDOT Project Team along with owner-engineer consultant activities.
The Route 291 River Bridge project has a tentative schedule to complete the environmental assessment in June of 2025 while also writing the Request for Proposal (RFP) and release the RFP by the fall of 2025. Construction is anticipated to begin in Spring of 2026.

The best candidate for the position will be selected based on the minimum requirements and the desired qualities listed above.
According to the project needs, the Project Team, led by the Project Director, may increase incrementally beyond the initial Project Team.
What you'll need for success: - Bachelor's Degree: Civil Engineering
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri.
- Six years of progressive experience in engineering positions, including demonstrated ability to manage teams, multiple projects, and focus on several functional areas of engineering .
