CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE-UBODepartment: FinancePay Grade: 105FLSA Status: Non-ExemptPersonnel Status: Regular Full-Time JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for providing customer service to Utility Billing Office customers. This position reports to the Customer Service Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Provides assistance to utility customers in person, by telephone and by email; provides information and answers questions.
- Establishes and closes utility accounts and performs account maintenance.
- Processes and balances daily customer payment batches; prepares appropriate batch reconciliations, deposits, and reports.
- Reviews, calculates, and processes utility customers’ requests for high bill adjustments.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; six (6) months’ experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Knowledge of utility billing policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
- Knowledge of water and sewer practices in residential and commercial environments.
- Knowledge of local government operations, policies and plans, and modern office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other similar programs.
- Skill in using computers for data entry, word processing, and/or accounting purposes.
- Skill in the use of small office equipment, including calculators, copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.
- Skill in effective communication, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to meet and deal with employees and the public in an effective and courteous manner.
- Ability to get along with others, and work effectively with the public and co-workers.
- Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive matters.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS The work issedentary work, which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, or walking.
WORK ENVIRONMENT The work is typically performed in an office environment.
