    Overview

    Join the Larimer County Fleet Department as an Equipment Maintenance Technician!

    This is an excellent position for an experienced mechanic who enjoys working on a variety of fleet equipment. In this role, you will be assigned repairs, inspections, and maintenance of light, and/or medium, fleet vehicles and equipment.

    Your expertise will play a key role in supporting county operations by keeping our fleet in top condition, whether you’re tackling routine service or troubleshooting complex issues.

    The typical schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with potential weekend, overtime, and occasional on-call responsibilities. A tool and boot allowance is available after six months.

    Responsibilities

    What you'll be doing:
    • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues.
    • Use a computerized work order system.
    • Perform field and shop inspections of medium and light equipment to identify repair needs and make field repairs when possible.
    • Conduct preventative maintenance on all equipment.
    • Ensure compliance with DOT standards and inspections.

    What we're looking for:
    • Experience diagnosing and repairing diesel and gas engines, brake systems, transmissions, differentials, and axle assemblies.
    • Ability to diagnose and repair electrical issues.
    • Proficiency in using computer equipment for diagnostics and repairs.
    • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Two (2) years of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities or certification in auto or diesel technology from an accredited program.
    • Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire required.
    • Possession of, and ability to maintain, a Class "B" CDL at the discretion of the Fleet Director, depending upon necessity and position, required
