    The Role:
    The Communications Manager at the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) plays a key role in driving communication strategies that highlight the organization's mission to promote the Las Vegas destination. This position will lead communication efforts that support the Las Vegas Convention Center, as well as the LVCVA’s business investments and advocacy initiatives. The Communications Manager will also curate various content channels for internal and external communication efforts, ensuring consistent and impactful messaging.

    What You’ll Accomplish:
    Keep in mind that this list is not all-inclusive.
    • Create Extraordinary Communication Materials:
      • Write and disseminate press materials and media pitches and prepare accompanying assets and data points for local, national, and trade media that result in positive news coverage.
      • Develop proactive media relations pitches/story ideas to promote the LVCVA, the LVCC, and the organization’s various initiatives and investments.
      • Field media inquiries and liaise with media via phone, email, and in person in a timely manner.
      • Be an informed, knowledgeable point of contact for local, national, and trade media and the resort community.
    • Oversee Events and Activations:
      • Manage, organize, and execute press events, presentations, and activations.
      • Coordinate and prepare LVCVA executives for media interviews, board meetings, and speaking engagements by gathering relevant data, insights, and visuals.
      • Manage and promote local and national advocacy initiatives, including the Hospitality Heroes recognition program and meeting and convention industry events such as Global Meetings Industry Day and National Travel and Tourism Week.
    • Partner and Inform:
      • Collaborate with other LVCVA departments, including Public Relations, Sales, Research, Transportation, and Digital to further the organization’s mission.
      • Share relevant and timely information with Ambassadors and internal and external stakeholders by developing and distributing communication vehicles, including roundups and newsletters.
    • Monitor Industry and Media:
      • Maintain awareness and knowledge of industry and destination trends, local and national travel developments and news, the media landscape, and innovations throughout the destination.
      • Report impactful and accurate media coverage to LVCVA executives and key stakeholders.
    • Manage Crisis Communications and Media Sentiment:
      • Support crises communications efforts by researching data points, preparing briefing documents, and tracking/interpreting media sentiment.


    What We’re Looking For:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
    • Progressive experience in managing Communications, Public Relations, or Journalism
    • Advanced writing and editorial skills with ability to write to various audiences and media forms, including press releases, thought leader pieces, newsletters, and editorials
    • Demonstrates a commitment to valuing differences among individuals and being inclusive
    • Ability to communicate effectively with various audiences, including Ambassadors, media, customers, senior leaders, and community stakeholders in a variety of formats.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
    • Strong time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines with an attention to detail
    • Working knowledge of communications and media relations principles, practices, and procedures
    • Outstanding communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
    • A professional customer service approach when collaborating with media and internal and external stakeholders
    • Discretion and the ability to maintain confidential information
