    Deputy Clerk, Accounting Specialist - Bar Enrollment

    Job Location: On-Site at Supreme Court of Missouri, 207 W. High St., Jefferson City, MO 65101

    What you’ll do: This role carries significant responsibility, involving specialized and intricate accounting functions along with administrative tasks related to managing the official roll of attorneys and supporting the Clerk of the Supreme Court in treasurer responsibilities. Work will be conducted under the supervision of the Attorney Enrollment Director and the Clerk of the Court.

    Responsibilities include: This may not encompass all the responsibilities mentioned, nor do the examples cover every task that could be undertaken. A more comprehensive list of duties can be provided during the interview.

    This role involves comprehensive financial analysis and administrative tasks, including:

    • Performing financial audits, reporting, reconciling, and distributing fees across multiple platforms.
    • Processing and preparing financial records like invoices, payments, and general ledger entries.
    • Managing lock box functions, maintaining the chart of accounts, and preparing detailed transfer entries for ACH payments.
    • Monitoring and updating financial accounting software, verifying balances, and reconciling discrepancies.
    • Researching issues in accounts and preparing various financial reports for internal and external use.
    • Administrative duties include managing the attorney roll, supporting professional licensure renewals, and processing suspensions and reinstatements.
    • Providing customer service by addressing various inquiries and preparing detailed written and verbal responses.


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Strong data and financial analysis skills for effective evaluation.

    • Proficient in accounting and bookkeeping principles.

    • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

    • Familiar with accounting software, database management, and Microsoft Office.

    • Capable of prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.

    • Eager to learn new challenges and apply procedures.

    • Clear communication skills, both oral and written.

    • Competent in independent and team work.

    • Sound judgment in handling inquiries and sensitive information.

    • Strong integrity and commitment to customer service.

    • Skilled in building effective relationships while ensuring confidentiality.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Graduation from an accredited high school, or GED
    • Associate’s degree in accounting, finance or business-related field preferred
    • Minimum two years relevant experience in bookkeeping, accounting, banking, and accounts receivables
