    Workdays & Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 4:00pm. Field Operations is a 24/7 Operation - weekend and after hour work may be required. This position is a first responder in severe weather conditions/emergencies which will be subject to work after hours, emergency call back hours, nights, weekends, holidays and will participate in an on-call rotation schedule. This role requires proactive and dependable individuals who can quickly adapt to changing conditions and respond efficiently to urgent situations. Ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the water distribution and wastewater collection systems, maintaining the success of our operations team and the satisfaction of our customers during critical times.

    The Water Department / Field Operations Division, is seeking qualified individual to fill position for Parts Expediter in the Field Operations Warehouse. As the largest division of the Water Department, Field Operations plays a vital role in maintaining the city's infrastructure, ensuring that essential services are delivered to Fort Worth and surrounding customers.

    The Field Operations Division is a 24/7 operation and is the largest division of the Water Department and an integral function of the maintenance of the City of Fort Worth’s infrastructure. These positions are essential to the daily operations of the Field Operations Division and an integral role in the department's success. The ideal candidate/s will be responsible performing a variety of procurement, disbursement, and inventory management tasks. Procures materials, supplies, services and equipment for an assigned department. Uses various inventory control methods to maintain established levels in better assisting our crews in the operation, repair, and maintenance of all water and wastewater piping systems for the city and surrounding customers.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • High School Diploma or GED certification
    • Specialized training in inventory management, accounting, purchasing, or related field
    • Three (3) years of experience in purchasing, sales, or inventory control
    • Possession of, or ability to obtain a Forklift Operator certification
    • Must be able to work a 24-hour emergency call back rotating schedule. Including ability to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Including working on-call on a rotation schedule
    • Possess a valid driver’s license
    • Must be able to pass a physical, drug screen, and background verification

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite, PeopleSoft, and Maximo or similar systems.
    • Excellent written communication skills
    • Five + years’ experience in procurement of goods and services
    • Previous experience in the utilities, mechanical, or construction industry

    Parts Expediter’s job responsibilities include:
    • Maintain a large-scale warehouse inventory, stockroom, and records to ensure inventory is within established levels; orders as necessary.
    • Provide support in the procurement of materials, supplies, and services used in repair, maintenance, and operations.
    • Perform a variety of technical procurement, disbursement, and inventory management duties.
    • Responsible for purchasing routine and emergency items.
    • Understand and follow pertinent federal, state, and local rules and regulations governing a municipal purchasing program. Understand, apply and explain the city purchasing policies.
    • Identifies stocking needs and creates purchase orders. Ensures contract renewals are completed.
    • Expedites the delivery of purchased material and makes necessary adjustments with suppliers regarding replacements, incomplete orders or damaged supplies.
    • Ensures proper billing. Responds to vendors concerning payments.
    • Performs warehouse facility maintenance.
    • Performs other duties as required.

    Working Conditions and Physical Demand:

    Heavy Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up-to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.

    Medical Program
