OverviewLarimer County Human Resources is seeking a Leave Specialist to support employees and supervisors through the County’s leave processes, primarily Family and Medical Leave (FMLA). This role requires a compassionate and detail-oriented professional who can navigate complex leave situations, provide clear guidance, and ensure compliance with applicable laws. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently under high volume while maintaining discretion.
As a Leave Specialist , you will be a key resource for employees facing difficult personal or family situations. You will also support supervisors in understanding leave policies, communication strategies, return-to-work coordination, and compliance requirements. This position collaborates closely with Payroll, Workers’ Compensation, Benefits, and HR Generalists to ensure seamless support for County employees.
The typical schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm.
ResponsibilitiesWhat you'll be doing:
- Administering employee leave programs, including FMLA, military leave, ADA, short-term and long-term disability, and leave without pay.
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to leave programs.
- Providing support and guidance to employees and supervisors regarding leave policies, procedures, and available programs.
- Tracking and reporting on all leave cases, ensuring documentation and reporting align with legal requirements.
- Coordinating return-to-work procedures for employees on leave, including required medical documentation and communication with supervisors.
- Collaborating with Workers’ Compensation and Payroll to ensure accurate documentation and processing of leave information in time management systems.
- Liaising with insurance providers to coordinate short-term and long-term disability claims.
- Presenting and educating supervisors and employees on leave programs as needed.

- Two (2) years of experience in leave administration required.
