What You’ll Do: - Maintain & Repair Water Systems: Read meters, identify and repair leaks, and install new water and sewer mains.
- Troubleshoot & Resolve Issues: Operate remote control cameras to inspect sewer lines, clean blockages, and repair manholes.
- Operate Specialized Equipment: Use heavy machinery such as dump trucks, backhoes, and forklifts, as well as power tools.
- Ensure Public Safety: Install work safety zones, direct traffic at worksites, and maintain fire hydrants.
- Respond to Emergencies: Participate in on-call rotations for emergency repairs and urgent maintenance needs.
What We’re Looking For: - Knowledgeable & Skilled: Familiarity with water and wastewater systems, utility meter operations, and equipment maintenance.
- Hands-On Experience: Ability to use hand and power tools effectively, operate heavy machinery, and perform physical tasks in various conditions.
- Problem-Solver: Strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve system issues efficiently.
- Team Player: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with colleagues, contractors, and the public.
- Adaptable & Reliable: Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and be available for emergency call-outs.
Minimum Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one to two years of experience in a related role or an apprenticeship.
- Valid Texas driver’s license (or ability to obtain one).
- Ability to obtain a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Class C or higher license in water and wastewater.
Work Environment & Physical Demands: This is an active role that requires frequent lifting, bending, climbing, and exposure to outdoor elements, noise, and machinery. Protective gear is required in certain situations.
