    Job Description

    JOB SUMMARY
    The Custodian is responsible for cleaning and maintaining interior and exterior facilities and administrative buildings to ensure sanitary conditions.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Cleans and maintains interior and exterior of all assigned facilities and administrative buildings to ensure sanitary conditions.
    • Performs a variety of light and heavy housekeeping duties such as sweeping, mopping, cleaning windows, dusting, emptying trash, cleaning restrooms, vacuuming carpets, buffing/scrubbing/waxing/stripping floors, shampooing carpets and upholstery furniture.
    • Performs minor maintenance modifications such as cleaning up after renovations, rearranging furniture, setting up meeting rooms, painting and replacing lights and window blinds.
    • Operates and maintains various types of lights and heavy equipment and power tools and various janitorial supplies.
    • Prepares and submits requisitions for supplies and equipment.
    • Responds to plumbing problems in restrooms and cleaning over-flowing commodes.
    • Applies standard custodial and safety practices and procedures.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    DECISION MAKING
    • This position receives direct supervision.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
    • Ability to read, write, and understand written and verbal instructions.
    • Ability to use custodial equipment, machinery and tools.
    • Valid Class "C" Texas driver's license.
    • Ability to report to work on time, maintain a good attendance record, and work all designated work schedules.
    JOB DIMENSIONS

    • Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
    Physical requirements include frequently lifting up to 50 pounds or more. Subject to driving, standing, walking, climbing stairs, stooping, bending, squatting and kneeling for long periods of time to perform job scope, climbing ladders, overhead reaching and crouching occasionally. Working Conditions are in offices, facilities, and plant environments with exposure to dust, offensive fumes, chemical hazards, snakes, insects, excessive noise, extreme temperatures and weather conditions. Also operates company vehicle traveling to facilities.

    Required to work hours other than daytime schedule such as shift work, nights, weekends and holidays.
