Job Description This position involves performing professional work as a key resource for communicating initiatives and projects originating from the Public Works Department to the affected community. The role includes actively seeking input from residents or community members about these initiatives and projects, while providing timely updates on their status.
Key responsibilities include researching, writing, and publishing best practices for Public Works divisions, creating content for the City’s website, and publicizing relevant information about ongoing projects and initiatives. The position also requires the organization, planning, and coordination of community and neighborhood meetings, where information about the services provided by the Public Works Department will be shared.
Work is conducted both in the office and in the field, under the supervision of the Public Works Program Manager. The position involves regular evening and weekend work. Performance is evaluated based on discussions and the successful outcomes of the projects and initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Public Relations, Engineering, Planning, or related field and a minimum of three (2) years experience in developing and administering neighborhood or community outreach programs; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Knowledge of personal computers (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required.
THIS IS A PART_TIME_POSITION WITH NO GUARANTEE OF A CERTAIN NUMBER OF HOURS AND NO BENEFITS. THIS POSITION INVOLVES WORKING ON A TEMP/SEASONAL CONTRACT WHICH CAN BE RENEWED ANNUALLY BASED ON PERFORMANCE AND BUSINESS NEEED. If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
- Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
- Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
- Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
- Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
