Job Summary Starting Salary:
$31.51 - $41.74
Performs responsible supervisory, administrative, and technical field inspection work enforcing national, state, and local codes governing the design, construction and facilities management, and renovation of buildings, structures, wastewater treatment facilities, and other projects. Work involves coordinating and supervising the inspection of new and existing buildings, management of a quality assurance program, as well as the review and approval of permits involving special events (18A events). Exercises independent judgment in the interpretation and application of fire codes in making technical decisions. Work is performed under general supervision of the Deputy Fire Marshal. Performance is reviewed through reports submitted, meetings, and results obtained for technical sufficiency and consistent application.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's Degree in related field with four (4) or more years experience in fire safety inspection, one (1) year of which must have been as a supervisor; or an equivalent combination of related training and experience. Florida Fire Inspector I Certification is required. Florida Fire Inspector II Certification must be attained within the initial 6 (six) months of employment . A valid Florida Driver's License is required. Must pass a polygraph examination.

If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
- Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
- Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
- Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
- Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
