$25.21 - $32.15
Performs specialized field and office work in fire prevention with responsibility for enforcement of fire safety codes, laws, and ordinances and includes inspection of commercial buildings to ensure compliance. Initiative and judgment must be exercised to recognize fire hazards and acquire code compliance. Field work exposes employee to varying weather conditions, chemicals, noxious fumes, insects, heights, and confined areas. Work is performed under general supervision, according to established guidelines, and is reviewed through daily conferences.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate with six (6) months to one (1) year experience in fire inspection, fire prevention or related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess and maintain State of Florida Fire Safety Inspector Certification from the Division of State Fire Marshal and a valid Florida Driver's License . Must pass a background check which includes a polygraph.
Additional Qualifications for Promotion:
Promotions are not to be considered an automatic function of longevity and are subject to the review and authorization of the Supervisor. The employee’s last performance review must have resulted in an overall rating of Meets standards or better with no factor rating of less than meets. Proficiency standards for each level are established and maintained by the supervisor.

If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
- Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
- Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
- Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
- Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
