Job/Department Summary: Under direct supervision, the Custodian provides a wide range of cleaning and custodial care of an assigned area. Assignments may change depending on operational needs, but can include buildings, facilities, structures and adjacent areas and/or portions thereof; including, but not limited to, campus offices, classrooms, science laboratories, art rooms, auditoriums, gymnasiums, locker rooms, health and child care centers, patios, entryways and walkways, and workshops. Custodians may work independently or as part of a team.
The essential functions and responsibilities listed in this position description are typical work activities and the general range of work functions performed by Custodians, they are not an all-inclusive or restrictive list of custodial-related work. University Housing maintains, operates, and protects CSU Chico's student housing and related facilities and environments to provide an atmosphere that is conducive to learning, safe and healthy for the campus community, and attractive for visitors while preserving the physical heritage for future generations.
Required Education and Experience: Any combination of training, experience, and/or education sufficient to demonstrate the required skills and abilities listed above.
Preferences: Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills:
- 1+ years of custodial experience in an institutional or commercial setting (residential/hospitality experience preferred).
- Training in custodial safety protocols, including biohazard handling.
- Experience with environmentally friendly cleaning practices and a commitment to sustainability.
- Prior experience with work order systems like StarRez or radio communication in a custodial setting.
- Basic knowledge of minor repairs or maintenance tasks that custodians may be required to report or assist with.

Pay Plan: 12/12
Work schedule varies (could be one of 4 shifts): - Mon - Friday: 5am - 1:30pm
- Sun - Thurs: 8am - 4:30pm
- Thurs - Sun: 11:30am - 8:00pm
- Sun - Thurs: 6am - 2:30pm
CSU Classification Salary Range: $44,160 - $59,412 per year.
