    Job Summary:

    Assists Parks Division workers to help ensure safe, clean, well-maintained grounds and facilities at Loveland Burial Park and Lakeside Cemetery.

    The salary range for this position is:

    Maintenance Worker Entry Level - $18.00 - $18.36

    Maintenance Worker Level I - $18.50 - $19.25

    Maintenance Worker Level II - $19.25- $22.00

    These ranges based on qualifications and experience.

    This opportunity will remain open until filled.

    Positions are part year, eight to nine months, 40 hours per week Monday-Friday with medical coverage option only.

    Essential Functions:

    Entry:
    • Takes direction from team to ensure the quality interment services and well-maintained cemetery grounds by setting up chapel tents, greens, and chairs, and mowing and trimming turf areas.
    • Takes direction from the team in completion of winter work schedule activities and contributes to the completion of other assigned work by performing various maintenance tasks.
    • Works as an effective part of and facilitates the division and city team by responding to change and special needs with flexibility and in a positive manner and by taking initiative to resolve conflicts with others independently.
    • Maintains dialogue and relationships with the public and city staff on a constructive level by employing effective interpersonal skills.

    Level I:
    • Ensures a quality interment service and well-maintained cemetery grounds by assisting cemetery staff with setting up chapel tents, greens, and chairs, and mowing and trimming turf areas.
    • Assists in completion of winter work schedule activities and contributes to the completion of other assigned work by performing various maintenance tasks as directed.
    • Makes most effective use of time and resources by planning and scheduling own work and temporary employees’ work as assigned by supervisor.
    • Works as an effective part of, and facilitates the division and city team by responding to change and special needs with flexibility and in a positive manner and by taking initiative to resolve conflicts with others independently.
    • Maintains dialogue and relationships with the public and city staff on a constructive level by employing effective interpersonal skills

    Level II:
    • Ensure high quality and well-maintained cemetery grounds by trimming headstones on a bi-weekly basis and mowing all irrigated turf areas on a weekly basis.
    • Provide quality interment services by assisting cemetery staff with setting up chapel tents, greens, and chairs, assists in completion of work by performing various maintenance tasks as directed.
    • Makes most effective use of time and resources by planning and scheduling own work and work as assigned by supervisor.
    • Works as an effective part of the team by responding to change and special needs with flexibility and in a positive manner and by taking initiative to resolve conflicts with others independently.
    • Maintains dialogue and relationships with the public and city staff on a constructive level by employing effective interpersonal skills.
    • Assists with department projects as needed including special events.

    Other Job Functions:

    Qualifications:

    Education:
    • High School Graduate or GED required.

    Experience:

    Entry:
    • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age at time of hire.

    Level I:
    • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age at time of hire.
    • 1 year experience in parks maintenance or related field with an emphasis on duties most closely related to the essential job duties, including operating various types of equipment required.

    Level II:
    • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age at time of hire.
    • 2 years experience in parks maintenance or related field with an emphasis on duties most closely related to the essential job duties, including operating various types of equipment.

    Certifications:
    • Must possess a valid driver's license.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
    • Communicate effectively in written form and orally with a variety of people directly and using a two-way radio system.
    • Walk throughout facility grounds of various topographical conditions to visually identify needed work and inspect work results.
    • Operating various types of tools and equipment associated with landscape or facilities maintenance.
    • Lifting, carrying and stocking heavy items and materials.
    • Removing snow by hand with shovel and snow blower.
    • Digging, sweeping, raking various landscaping materials.
    • Working in below ground level trenches and from above ground level ladders or scaffolds.

    Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
    • Frequent m oderate to considerable physical effort that includes working from ladders in awkward positions. Frequent use of light or medium weight objects (e.g., 25-50 lbs) and use of medium weight tools.
    • Frequent e xposure to heat and noise along with working outside in the elements.
    • Occasional st renuous to extreme physical effort that includes frequent use of heavy objects (e.g., 50+ pounds) and may also use heavy tools or require strenuous application in awkward positions.
    • Occasional e xposure to hazards that are predictable or well protected against.

    Non-Benefit Eligible Benefits Package Includes:

    • Medical Leave - Accrue 1 hour of leave per 30 hours worked (up to 48 hours)
