    Position Description

    Tacoma Power's Power Shared Services division is looking for an Asset Investment Planning Intern to join their team this Summer!

    The Intern will get the opportunity to apply their skills & gain valuable experience working with PSS Asset Investment Planning (AIP) staff to support asset data collection and entry and the development of data dashboards reflecting inventory and maintenance information for PSS assets, as well as SharePoint site maintenance, data management process development, automation and delegation. Other opportunities may also be available depending upon the successful completion of primary goals and/or the skills and interests of the intern.

    Responsibilities Include:
    • Assist in the uploading, organization, and non-duplication of equipment records and maintenance plans for PSS assets, and their inclusion on the PSS asset data dashboard.
    • Support the development of process automation, task delegation, and project management efforts in SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Workboard, and/or other software.
    • Collaborate with PSS staff to ensure that all applicable equipment records and maintenance are available, filed correctly, and are organized for retrieval/archiving.
    • Support the design, maintenance, and development, of the PSS AIP SharePoint Site.

    The expected duration of the internship 40 hours per week for at least 12 weeks, with the opportunity to extend as long as 50 weeks.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Education*
    High School Diploma or GED

    Minimum Experience*
    1 year of post-high school training

    Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements
    None

    *Equivalency: 1 year of experience = 1 year of education

    Knowledge & Skills

    • Effective oral and written communication.
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Ability to use software such as the Microsoft 365 Suite of programs.
    • Effective communication and listening skills.
    • Effective at problem solving & research.
    • Interest in technology & leveraging new tools for effective project management.


    Desired Skills:
    • Excellent oral, written, & visual communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft 365.
    • Proficient in SharePoint, and/or other project management/business systems software programs.
    • Some skills with data management and dashboard/visualization tools such as Tableau.

    Other Employment Information

    Direct Deposit: Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule by direct deposit.

    Salary Increases: Based on satisfactory job performance, the City provides for a regular progression of salary increases for most classifications according to the salary schedule.

    Union Affiliation: Many job classifications are covered by union security provisions which require union membership, dues, or payment of equivalent service fees.
