The Charlottesville Albemarle Convention & Visitors Bureau (CACVB) is designed to stimulate travel to our area through creative tourism marketing strategies and now we're looking for a rockstar data science intern to take a deep dive into the data we haven’t been able to harness to its fullest capabilities. The data science intern will utilize the CACVB’s historic and current data sets/research to make strategic data-driven marketing and operational recommendations. Additionally, the data science intern will work with the various CACVB departments to make compelling data stories that we can be shared internally with our team, and externally with industry partners, stakeholders, and our community. Examples of data you’ll be digging into include: hotel and lodging partner data, potential and prospective visitor feedback surveys, industry stakeholder surveys, a variety of marketing data and more. Do you love to write? Spend a little too much time on social media? Have a knack for marketing, PR and digital media? Take too many pictures? Keep up with the latest things to do in Charlottesville? Then you should be our Marketing & Public Relations Intern.
Responsibilities: Be able to gain a quick understanding of data sets and their meaning Work within Excel spreadsheets to compile data and identify patterns and outliers Turn data into compelling visual stories for easy understanding to the CACVB team and its community stakeholders
Requirements:- Excellent data science skills to interpret and refine large data sets
- Strong visual storytelling skills
- Collaborative, team player, active learner, who can work across CACVB departments to use data as the common thread that ties the greater team together
- Ability to extract large data sets in marketing software, customer relationship management systems and Excel into charts or other visual storytelling
- Comfort with technology, learning new software, equipment and online tools
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

THE SALARY RANGE
The hourly rate for this position is
$15.00 per hour . Starting offer is based on applicable education beyond minimum, experience and internal equity . This is an intern, FLSA Non-exempt position. Internal candidates will receive pay adjustments in accordance with Local Government Personnel Policy, §P-60.
