    job description

The Airport Operational Readiness (AOR) is a unique and highly specialized unit at LAX. Our team is dedicated to minimizing risks associated with the activation of new services, operations, and facilities through meticulous process planning, comprehensive training, and rigorous operational trials. Our involvement often commences as early as the conceptual design phase and continues through construction and project implementation. Utilizing our proven methodologies, we strive to ensure the full operational success of each project upon completion.

This opportunity is an emergency appointment Senior Airport Planner in the AOR Engineering and Planning section to lead various teams in implementing the operational readiness of Capital Improvement Programs. This position is a pivotal leadership position within the Airport Operational Readiness (AOR) Division, responsible for strategic oversight of planning, coordination, scheduling, and quality assurance for the comprehensive operational readiness program. The position mandates aligning LAWA's overarching organizational goals with AOR initiatives by coordinating activities and managing interdependencies between multiple project teams, ensuring seamless strategy execution and program delivery. It involves monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) for projects and overall program progress, as well as managing resources, budgets, risks, and opportunities to ensure that LAWA's objectives are met effectively and efficiently.

Candidates should be prepared to complete LAWA's Restricted Area Driver training and exam, as this position may occasionally require the operation of a City vehicle on the airfield. Generally, the position will involve operating a LAWA vehicle (non-airfield access) on a semi-regular basis, traveling to project sites as needed.

Schedule: 5/40 and 9/80 schedules available.

Telecommuting Eligibility: This classification is eligible to participate in LAWA's hybrid telecommuting program. Program eligibility may be subject to revocation at the discretion of division management at any time in the event that telecommuting performance is deemed unsatisfactory.

    How to apply

Interested candidates should submit their resume and City Application to laxopsjobs@lawa.org by 02/18/2025 4pm to be considered for this opportunity.

    Emergency Appointment

An emergency appointment is not a regular appointment. It is a temporary appointment which does not require that you successfully compete in the Civil Service examination process. The appointment may not exceed one year and must be terminated immediately when a regular appointment can be made from an eligible list. No emergency appointment can exceed one year. (City Charter Section 1013).

    Closing Date/Time: 2/18/25
