    This position is available to current MoDOT employees only. Successful candidates already at rates above the posted salary will be evaluated on an individual basis to determine final salary outcome.

    This position may be filled at one of three levels based on knowledge, skills, and abilities. The entry salary is posted above, an Intermediate starting salary of $56,712.48 and a Senior starting salary of $61,249.44.

    Job Location: Central Office, 105 West Capitol Avenue, Jefferson City, Missouri

    The paralegal assists attorneys in preparing, reviewing, and summarizing legal documents, conducting extensive legal research, interviewing witnesses, and performing administrative duties as assigned. Responsibilities are performed under direct supervision.

    What you'll do:

    • Reviews and summarizes legal records and transcripts.
    • Investigates and interviews witnesses; gathers supporting documents relating to witness testimony.
    • Conducts legal research, fact investigation and analysis; prepares summary and chronology of facts in cases.
    • Assists in the drafting of pleadings, discovery, and other legal documents and non-legal documents; prepares legal reports and exhibits.
    • May assist with legal review of documents gathered in response to open records (sunshine law) requests.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree: Paralegal, Legal Studies, or related field, OR

      Four years of experience as a paralegal, including computer experience


    Special Working Conditions:

    • Job may require occasional, statewide travel.
    • Remote work location from any MoDOT facility or hybrid telework option may be considered. Full-time telework is not available.
