    The Position

    Business Enterprise Officer's provide training to Business Enterprise Program (BEP) Operators in fiscal, operating, marketing and other management practices and procedures to ensure adherence to program rules.

    Under limited supervision, Business Enterprise Officer II's perform the full range of duties described in the series concept. Incumbents are responsible for the management of a statewide program of food service operations run by visually impaired business owners. In addition, incumbents supervise one or more Business Enterprise Officer I to include performance evaluations, work performance standards, scheduling, work assignment and review, training and discipline and may supervise administrative staff as assigned. This is the supervisory level in the series.

    The Business Enterprise Officer 2 (BEO 2) is an integral part of our Business Enterprises of Nevada (BEN) program, as it is the supervisory field staff position for Southern Nevada where two thirds of BEN program sites are located. The BEO 2 is responsible for the oversight of 12 Southern Nevada BEN sites that are operated by blind and visually impaired individuals. The incumbent is responsible for training and supporting BEN Operators to attain financial goals while ensuring program regulations are adhered to. The position serves as a representative of the BEN Program in working with various government agencies in establishing new BEN sites, negotiating contracts, as well as any other official BEN business if the Administrative Services Officer 2 (who oversees the entire BEN Program) is not able to attend. Additionally, the incumbent determines eligibility of BEN Operators and is responsible for training new BEN trainees, monitoring the construction, repair, and maintenance of BEN sites, and reviewing and analyzing Operator fiscal and business reports. This is a supervisory position which supervises two BEO 1 positions. This position is supervised by the ASO 2 and is on a team that consists of 7 positions that support the entire Business Enterprises of Nevada Program.

    To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration or related field and three years of professional experience managing or assisting in the management of a business, one year of which must have been in a food related industry; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and five years of professional experience as described above, one year which was in a food related industry; OR two years of experience as a Business Enterprise Officer I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
