The City of Burlingame (pop. 30,000) is a thriving suburban city located three miles south of the San Francisco Airport. Known for its exceptional quality of life, Burlingame boasts a significant shoreline and has two main downtown areas. The City Attorney’s office is staffed by the City Attorney, an Assistant City Attorney, and a Senior Risk Analyst/Code Compliance Officer with a shared Executive Assistant and supported by an FY 24-25 operating budget of $6.8 million.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a highly qualified and motivated attorney with a strong interest in and dedication to municipal law. The Assistant City Attorney will provide counsel to the Planning commission, as well as legal advice, counsel, and representation to the City in areas including the Brown Act, public records, conflicts of interest, ethics, land use, real estate, housing, public contracting, and environmental law. Successful candidates will have at least three (3) years of professional legal experience in municipal law, possess a JD degree, and maintain active membership in the State Bar of California. Litigation experience is desirable.
The salary range goes up to $212,532 + competitive benefits. This recruitment will close at 11:59pm on Sunday, March 9, 2025.
