    About the Role

    Join our team as a Purchasing Agent, where you'll manage procurement, contracts, and risk management to keep our operations running smoothly. You’ll work closely with vendors, negotiate contracts, oversee purchasing policies, and ensure compliance with regulations while helping the District make cost-effective decisions.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Oversee the preparation, assembly, and distribution of formal bid solicitation packages, including coordinating advertisements for bids.
    • Analyze bids and proposals, providing recommendations on contract awards, including those with significant financial impact.
    • Negotiate complex contracts and professional service agreements, developing strategic negotiation positions to secure the best terms for the District.
    • Develop and manage purchasing policies, ensuring compliance with District terms and conditions for all goods and services. Conduct internal audits to maintain adherence to purchasing procedures.
    • Administer the District’s purchasing card program, optimizing efficiency and cost management.
    • Administer the District’s risk management program, ensuring proper oversight and compliance.
    • Monitor contract performance, enforce compliance with terms and conditions, and take corrective action when necessary.

    Qualifications

    What You Bring
    • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or public administration (or equivalent experience).
    • 4+ years of public sector purchasing experience.
    • Knowledge of procurement processes, contract negotiation, and vendor management.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    • Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) or Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO) certification is a plus.
