    This AIPP Coordinator (Associate Collections Manager) position will assist the Senior Coordinator Collections Manager in accomplishing long-range and rolling needs artwork conservation priorities for existing artworks and new art projects in the Art in Public Places program.

    Essential Duties and functions may include the following.
    1) Provide or facilitate artwork conservation, maintenance, and repairs following priorities to be set forth in the 2025 Collections Survey
    2) Respond to and record artwork damage incidents, begins formulating treatment plans.
    3) Provide or facilitate regular required maintenance and other time dependent tasks for collection artworks.
    4) Under supervision, this position can be responsible for -
    a. entering or updating collection management database records
    b. records cleanup and rectification between repositories
    c. collecting, producing and updating content for Project/Object profile binders
    d. other Collections and Program operations as needed

    Travel:
    If you are selected for this position and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.
    Pay Range
    $28.29 - $34.80 per hour

    Hours
    Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Core Business Hours)

    Telework opportunities may be available after an initial training period. Work schedules are implemented to meet the requirements of the department and are subject to change based on business needs.

    Staff eligible to telework must be in the office for at least 40% of their scheduled work week.

    • Knowledge of contemporary art forms, materials, methods of fabrication, descriptions;
    • Knowledge of contemporary art conservation, preservation, maintenance methods and reporting of treatment plans;
    • Experience in fine art display, handling, packing, transportation, lighting, cleaning and general care;
    • Experience using computers and software applications, including databases, Microsoft Office Suites, and other communication tools;
    • Experience in office environment using standard equipment.
    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
    Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

    Assists the manager with program implementation, public outreach, and artist development; and provides lower-level support to the planning, development, and implementation of public art projects from inception to completion. Acts as liaison between artists, architects, contractors, developers, City departments, and community groups in the selection and commissioning of artists and the execution of public art projects. Recommends, develops, and assists with the facilitation of the procurement processes of public art in accordance with program ordinance and guidelines. Assists, as necessary, with the selection process for artist and artwork by assisting with recruiting qualified jurors, scheduling meetings, preparing materials for review, providing orientation for participants, and facilitating selection. Identifies and oversees maintenance needs of the public art collection to include annual assessment of the collection, contracting for the repair of artworks, and maintaining artwork values for City insurance coverage and claims. Identifies artwork proposed for deaccession and assists in facilitating deaccession procedures according to adopted City policy. Facilitates artwork donation process and coordinates with donors, user departments, Boards and Commissions, and stakeholder groups, according to adopted City policy. Fields inquiries about the program or particular public art projects, including media requests. Recruits program participants and provides education through programmatic outreach efforts; represents the program at a limited number of public events and meetings, and makes public presentations as appropriate. Bears responsibility for all phases of contracts with contractors. Assists in the management of project artwork budget, schedules, and payments; and provides updates to internal and external stakeholders. Develops and maintains appropriate program and project documentation, including paper and electronic files, databases, visual archives, publicity materials, and web resources. Provides professional expertise to committees, colleagues, and artists in areas including public engagement, aesthetics, siting, durability, context, content, architectural integration, and best practices; and evaluates and recommends improvements to program and project management practices and procedures.

    City Government
