OverviewLarimer County Natural Resources is seeking a Trail Crew Worker Temp to help maintain and enhance our incredible outdoor spaces!
The Natural Resources Department manages Larimer County's great outdoor places, including open spaces and magnificent water-based recreation areas, and fosters responsible land stewardship through weed management and healthy forest practices. Larimer County's Natural Resources has 40+ benefited employees and 125+ seasonal and part time employees.
Our mission is to establish, protect, and manage significant regional parks and open lands providing quality outdoor recreational opportunities and stewardship of natural resource values. We are committed to fostering a sense of community and appreciation for the natural and agricultural heritage of Larimer County for present and future generations.
This temporary position typically follows a Monday to Friday schedule, with occasional weekend and afternoon volunteer events. The role is expected to last approximately 10 months.

ResponsibilitiesWhat you'll be doing:
- Building, repair, and maintain multi-use trails, ensuring safe and accessible outdoor experiences.
- Constructing and repair retaining walls, stairs, fences, and safety railings to support trail integrity.
- Operating various tools and vehicles, including ATVs, four-wheel-drive vehicles, tractors with attachments, chainsaws, and power tools.
- Performing demanding physical tasks outdoors in all weather conditions for extended periods.
- Providing guidance to team members by assigning tasks, reviewing work, training staff, and contributing to hiring and performance evaluations.
- Participating in planning and designing new trail construction projects.
- Training, directing, and supervising assigned staff, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Help coordinate and oversee volunteer and community service projects related to trail construction and maintenance.

What we're looking for:
- Candidates should have at least two years of experience in a directly related field or in performing similar duties and responsibilities.
- An Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Park Maintenance, Outdoor Recreation, or a related field is preferred, along with specialized training in advanced trail construction and maintenance.
- Applicants must possess, or be able to obtain by the date of hire, CPR and First Aid certifications.
- A valid Colorado Driver’s License is required or must be obtained upon hire.

- One (1) year of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required.
- Equivalent to an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Park Maintenance or a related field supplemented by some specialized training in advanced trail construction and maintenance, outdoor recreation, park maintenance, or related field required.
- Possession of CPR and First Aid certifications by date of hire preferred.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License required.
