The City of Ventura is now accepting applications for the position of
Human Resources Analyst I/II(Promotional Only).
Under general supervision, Human Resource Analysts perform responsible professional level work in one or more areas of classification, compensation, benefits, recruitment and selection, labor relations, and training. These positions assist in the development and administration of personnel programs, policies, and procedures. The individual selected for this position will report directly to the Human Resources Manager and will be responsible for recruitment and selection functions.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS Human Resources Analyst I: is the entry-level class in the professional human resources series, requiring technical experience. Incumbents perform a limited variety of professional human resources assignments following established policies and procedures. This is a flexibly staffed position, normally advancing to Human Resources Analyst II.
Human Resources Analyst II: is the journey-level class of the professional human resources series. Incumbents perform a wide variety of professional assignments of increasing difficulty and serve as a resource reference within specialized areas. This is a flexibly staffed position, and positions are normally filled by advancement from Human Resources Analyst I.
The ideal candidate for this position will possess:
- Technical expertise in human resources, with experience in recruitment support, including coordinating background checks and managing the onboarding process for new employees;
- Organization skills and attention to detail;
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, with the ability to respond diplomatically and tactfully to people of various levels within the organization.
Experience and Qualifications for Success! Human Resources Analyst I: A combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in public administration, human resources, business administration or related field and two (2) years of technical experience in the human resources field are required.
Human Resources Analyst II: In addition to the above, two (2) years of experience equivalent to a Human Resources Analyst I.
Note: Additional related experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
