What You'll Be DoingWake County has a opportunity to join #TeamWake as a SQL Server Database Engineer!This position administers, maintains, develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of the County’s MS SQL Server databases. In this role you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, upgrade, modify and operationally administer new and existing databases in support of critical enterprise applications.
Essential Functions:- Installing and supporting MS SQL Server 2016 - 2022
- Proven T- SQL coding skills
- Backup and recovery of SQL Server databases
- Monitoring SQL Server and troubleshooting problem conditions
- Writing and maintaining SSIS packages
- Writing and maintaining programs and scripts using the C# programming language or VB.Net to extend SSIS
Additional Requirements:- Experience with MS SQL Server mirroring and Availability Groups
- Experience writing stored procedures and functions using T-SQL
- Experience with on-call rotation in support of production databases and applications
- Experience supporting MS SQL Server in a VMware environment
- Experience with Storage Array Network (SAN) technology
- Experience writing Excel macros

The Basics (Required Education and Experience) - Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or a related field
- Two years of experience in network or database design and administration; or
- Six years of experience in network or database design and administration
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) - Understanding of MS software licensing
- Cohesity Data Management backup and recovery for MS SQL Server
- Experience writing reports using SSRS
- Experience with Oracle database administration is a plus
