    Tacoma Power is excited to announce we are accepting applications for 2 vacancies for Seasonal Grounds Workers (under the Laborer classification) at the Cushman Project located near Shelton, WA (10 miles)!

    As a Grounds Worker, your responsibilities include lawn mowing, weed eating, and light janitorial duties. Dive into the fun side of work by participating in painting projects. Enjoy the outdoors as you handle tasks like garbage hauling, contributing to the overall cleanliness of the hydro project.

    This is a temporary position, providing the perfect opportunity for those seeking a flexible assignment that aligns with the Summer season. At this time, the two start dates for these open positions are 3/24 and 4/21, but start dates are flexible! The average duration of employment for this seasonal position is approximately 6 months with possible extension. Starting pay for this position will be $20.51.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
    • Some experience performing grounds maintenance, mowing and weed eating, or similar manual labor;
    • Completion of the eighth grade.

    LICENSES, CERTIFICATES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
    Valid Driver's License

    Appointment will be subject to passing a background check and a pre-employment medical exam and drug screen. This position is covered by a Labor Agreement between the City of Tacoma and Teamsters Local 117.

    Other Employment Information

    Direct Deposit: Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule by direct deposit.

    Salary Increases: Based on satisfactory job performance, the City provides for a regular progression of salary increases for most classifications according to the salary schedule.

    Union Affiliation: Many job classifications are covered by union security provisions which require union membership, dues, or payment of equivalent service fees.
