Wildfire Partner Program Coordinator , you’ll lead efforts to reduce wildfire risk through public education, land use planning, Home Ignition Zone inspections, and mitigation projects. The starting salary range for this position is $68,997 to $82,796.

Essential Functions- Acts as a resource or expert in the Wildfire Partners Program area, providing technical guidance to less experienced staff, and internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinates program activities with internal and external stakeholders; represents the Office on boards and committees.
- Develops, implements, administers, reviews, and updates the County’s Wildfire Partner Program; develops wildfire safety and mitigation programs, plans, and implementation efforts.
- Trains Sheriff’s Office personnel on defensible space concepts, fire mitigation concepts, and inspection; administers defensible space inspections and approvals.
- Conducts land use reviews, addressing wildfire-related issues; reviews and approves wildfire mitigation plans; negotiates mitigation activities.
- Identifies and manages wildfire mitigation funding and grant opportunities.
- Provides technical assistance to internal and external stakeholders.
- Delivers presentations and information to diverse audiences, including internal and external stakeholders; develops brochures and educational/informational program-related materials; participates in media relations activities.
- Assists communities with developing and implementing Community Wildfire Protection Plans.
- Assists county, state, and federal agencies with planning and developing mitigation projects and fire management. In coordination with partner agencies, develops technical prescriptions for mitigating wildfire hazards and promoting forest health.
- Develops and presents codes and ordinances.
- Develops and maintains a model covenant based upon fire-wise construction and landscaping; meets with homeowners’ associations and others as appropriate to encourage adopting or changing existing covenants, including wildfire mitigation provisions.
- Maintains appropriate program records and files; prepares reports and written correspondence.
- Analyzes and synthesizes data; prepares reports and statistics.
Nonessential Functions- When a local declaration of emergency or disaster is declared by the Board of Commissioners, all Larimer County employees may be required to work as a Disaster Service Worker.
- Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.
Qualifications- High school diploma or GED supplemented by specialized courses in wildfire management and control.
- Must be at least 21 years of age by date of hire.
- Possession of a valid Colorado Driver's License by date of hire.
- Certification at the National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) arduous level work capacity test.
- Current NWCG standards as a Wildland Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2) or ability to obtain within one (1) year of date of hire.
- Certification of NWCG S-215 Fire Operations in the Wildland Urban Interface or ability to obtain within three (3) years of date of hire.
- Certification of NWCG S-290 Intermediate Wildland Behavior or ability to obtain within three (3) years of date of hire.
- Certification of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Assessing Structure Ignition Potential or ability to obtain within two (2) years of date of hire.
- Certification of National Incident Management System (NIMS) ICS 100, 200.
- Certification of NIMS IS 700 level.
- One (1) year of experience addressing wildfire hazards utilizing principles of forest ecology, fire behavior, Rocky Mountain Region silviculture, wildfire mitigation techniques, and fuels management, and one (1) year of general office experience involving considerable public contact and supervisory experience, preferred.
