    Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus three (3) years of experience related to janitorial services, including two (2) years of experience which were in the operation of janitorial heavy equipment and/or machinery.

    POSITION OVERVIEW

    Under general supervision, this position provides coordination of work, leadership, and guidance to staff who provide housekeeping, security, and facilities services throughout Austin-Bergstrom International Airport ( AUS ) and the AUS campus.

    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
    Coordinates, leads, and assists staff conducting facility maintenance, security, emergency services, general and detailed cleaning and disinfecting services using heavy and specialized equipment, and moving and arranging services for airport terminals and campus.
    Acts as supervisor in absence of shift supervisor.
    Interacts with airport tenants, passengers, and other City of Austin departments on behalf of the division.
    Develops and revises standard operating procedures for the division and implements once approved.
    Provides customer service by answering questions and providing information to all customers navigating and transitioning through the airport.
    Performs administrative duties and responsibilities including completing and approving forms, logs, timesheets, and leave requests.
    Stocks, orders, and replenishes supplies campus-wide; inspects and maintains equipment, vehicles, and areas of the airport campus for needed repairs, maintenance, and cleanliness.
    Communicates and coordinates work with divisional supervisors regarding event operational matters, resolves conflicts and difficult situations, evaluates personnel performance, and resolves other issues.

    Physical Requirements:
    This is a physically demanding position which will require that you be able to perform the following essential job functions with confidence and with or without reasonable accommodations:

    Ability to walk and stand continuously.
    Ability to sit, bend, stoop, twist, climb, kneel, and crawl for periods of time.
    Ability to reach and stretch overhead.
    Ability to demonstrate repetitive hand and foot movement, finger dexterity, grasping, squeezing, and repetitive motions.
    Ability to carry, lift, push, and pull up to fifty (50) pounds unassisted, with occasional climbing of stairs and ladders.
    Additionally, the employee will need the ability to wear the required protective equipment and will be exposed to vibrations, noise, mechanical and chemical hazards, fume/odor hazards, toxic waste/material hazards and possible contact with blood and/or other potentially infectious materials.

    Selected candidate may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment physical exam to be considered for this position.

    ASSESSMENT


    A skills assessment will be required for this position.

    DRIVER’S REQUIREMENT

    This position must travel between various locations as part of the regular job duties and the individual will be required to drive a City vehicle. Position will also be required to drive on the AOA .

    This position requires a Valid Texas Class C Driver License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation ( DRE ) requisite . To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months. Job Offer is contingent on having a driving record that meets the City’s Driver Record Evaluation Standards.

    VETERAN

    Veteran candidates will be required to provide a copy of their DD214 at the time of interview.


    ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL


    This position is categorized as essential personnel. Essential personnel are required to come to work during emergencies or bad weather at the airport if they are scheduled to work and in some cases when they are not scheduled.


    CRIMINAL HISTORY RECORDS CHECK


    The top candidate will be subject to a minimum 10 year criminal background check and security threat assessment.

    SHIFT INCENTIVE

    Shift work includes shift differential incentive for evening and night shifts and weekends.

    Shift may change according to departmental needs; work hours may include after hours, holidays, and weekend work.

Works in conjunction with airport personnel and assigned staff to coordinate and ensure security and safety for airport facilities; coordinates evacuations and isolations of airport facilities when emergencies arise such as security breaches, weather or fire emergencies, and baggage handling system outages.

    • Knowledge of airport janitorial processes and procedures.

    • Knowledge of FAA and TSA Security Identification Display Area ( SIDA ) regulations and requirements.
    • Knowledge of Airline Baggage Hygiene procedures.
