    Job Summary

    Salary:

    City Prosecutor I: $34.45- $39.805

    City Prosecutor II: $49.55- $59.35

    City Prosecutor III: $55.81- $68.20

    Performs professional and administrative legal work prosecuting violations of the Orlando City Code in County Court. Responsibilities include prosecution of all municipal ordinance violations, including administrative/technical codes, and State law misdemeanors in County Court, supervision of professional and clerical staff, developing and coordinating office policy, drafting, and reviewing new City ordinances, and instructing trial techniques/City Code to Orlando Police Department recruits, law enforcement personnel and Police Academy students, advising police officers and managers on various legal issues. Work is performed under the general supervision of the City Attorney and is reviewed for results obtained through reports and conferences.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    City Prosecutor I : Bachelor's Degree and Law Degree (J.D. or LL.B) from an approved/accredited law school and one (1) year experience in criminal law as a prosecutor or defense attorney. Membership in the Florida Bar is required. A valid Florida Driver's License is required.

    City Prosecutor II : Bachelor's Degree and Law Degree (J.D. or LL.B) from an approved/accredited law school and five (5) years of experience in criminal law as a prosecutor or defense attorney. Membership in the Florida Bar is required. A valid Florida Driver's License is required.

    City Prosecutor III : Bachelor's Degree and Law Degree (J.D. or LL.B) from an approved/accredited law school and fourteen (14) years of experience as a licensed, practicing attorney, including experience in criminal law, as a prosecutor or criminal defense attorney. Membership in the Florida Bar is required. A valid Florida Driver's License is required.

    If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
    • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
    • Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
    • Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
    • Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
