    Job Summary

    Performs technical work in the operation and monitoring of a Traffic Management Center. Employees in this role oversee real-time traffic conditions, operate intelligent transportation systems (ITS), and respond to incidents to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow. Duties include monitoring video surveillance and traffic management software, identifying and responding to traffic incidents, equipment failures, and atypical conditions, and coordinating with field personnel, law enforcement, and emergency responders.

    Operators also manage the TMC call center, receiving and prioritizing reports from the public, government agencies, and other stakeholders. They assess traffic-related issues, provide guidance based on established procedures, and escalate concerns to appropriate technical personnel when necessary. Work is performed under general supervision and evaluated through performance metrics, observation, and annual reviews.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate with two (2) years experience in a computer center environment operating computers required; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

    If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
    • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
    • Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
    • Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
    • Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
