    Spring internship available with the City Council, 3rd District with Councilwoman Robinson located at 414 E. 12th St.
    Salary Range: $18.00/hour
    Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 10-15 hours per week *Hybrid telework schedule available on as needed basis.

    Responsibilities

    As a Councilmember Intern, you will have the opportunity to work closely with Councilwoman Melissa Robinson, 3rd District in the city council office. This internship offers a unique experience to gain insight into local government operations and contribute to the betterment of our community. The duties of this position will range from research, constituent relations work, administrative assistance, community engagement, planning, events, constituent services and resident empowerment.

    Responsibilities include:
    • Conducts research on various legislative issues and policy matters to assist council members in making informed decisions.
    • Assists in drafting reports, memos, and other written materials for council members.
    • Attends council meetings, committee hearings, and community events to provide support and take notes.
    • Engages with constituents through phone calls, emails, and in-person meetings to address their concerns and provide assistance.
    • Assists in organizing and coordinating community outreach programs, town hall meetings, and public hearings.
    • Maintains and updates databases, files, and records related to council activities.
    • Collaborates with other interns and staff members to ensure smooth operations within the council office.
    • Performs general administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, and managing office supplies.

    Qualifications

    REQUIRES high school diploma or GED and enrollment in an accredited college, university, or trade school.

    Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

    The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
    For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
    Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

    If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
