- Initiate and complete investigations on reportable STI/HIV infections, including interviewing those infected or at risk of infection
- Assure appropriate testing and treatment for individuals with STI/HIV infections or at risk for HIV/STIs
- Explain the medical aspects of disease transmission and risk reduction activities
- Notify sex and needle-sharing partners of their exposure and need for testing and/or treatment
- Conduct HIV/STI specimen collection and provide both positive and negative results
- Assist other members of the disease investigation team, as needed
- Assist the regional supervisor and program supervisor with quality assurance and improvement projects, as requested
- Provide support, guidance, and health education regarding STI/HIV best practices according to CDC guidelines to LPHA staff, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two or more years of experience OR a master's degree from an accredited college or university
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a working knowledge of public health functions and essential services
- This position requires professionalism, excellent attention to detail, initiative, flexibility, discretion, and the strict maintenance of confidentiality
- The candidate should be comfortable with having sexually explicit discussions with the individuals served through the partner services program and be able to relay medical information about STD/HIV transmission to staff, the general public, and medical providers
