Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager II within the Innovative Projects Section of the Data and Innovation Unit, the Innovative Projects Manager coordinate with subject matter experts and lead analytical staff on projects concerning the Division’s mandates to support state and local agencies in development of affordable housing on public lands. The Data & Innovation Unit’s portfolio of projects and services includes providing technical assistance, collecting and reporting on data and providing recommendations to address California’s principal housing policy questions. The incumbent also provides policy and legislative analyses, and actively supports the Department’s mission priorities with an emphasis on measuring program outcomes to identify innovative solutions to addressing California’s shortage of affordable homes.
This position is focused on using publicly owned land for development of affordable housing and within the Housing Policy Development Division’s, Data and Innovation Unit. Using expertise in real estate development, finance, urban planning or related fields this position help to innovate the use of the State’s land for affordable housing by administering funding dedicated to this cause. Specifically, this position supports the State Excess Sites for Affordable Housing program through administration of the Local Government Matching Grant (LGMG) program. Incumbents also develop training strategies and advise their direct reports in the performance of communication, data analysis and research, report preparation, stakeholder outreach, grants management, and technical assistance activities .
